Welcome to the Foundation’s Community or Organizational (Donor Select) Scholarship page.

Scholarship Types

Endowed Scholarships – These are scholarships that are “permanent” in nature and will be awarded every year. The scholarship award amount per student is determined each year by the Foundation’s Board of Directors. 

Scholarship Funds – These are scholarship agreements that are “temporary” in nature and the awarding is dependent on the fund balance. The individual or group who is responsible for administering the scholarship will determine the scholarship award amount based on the fund balance and/or need and intent. Nomination: If you are a donor sponsoring a scholarship fund (not endowment) and wish to nominate a recipient, please contact Dunkin McLane at [email protected] to have a special form sent to you. 

Nominations

All community or organizational scholarship nominations must be submitted using an electronic nomination form. 

Remember to include your recipient’s GCSC Student ID number!!

Selecting and Awarding

All Foundation Community or Organizational scholarships are selected by members of the community. The responsibility from setting priority application deadlines rests with the individual or group in change of selecting a recipient or recipients.

Recipient Minimum Eligiblity Requirements

If your scholarship is used to help a Gulf Coast State College student specifically, your recipient should meet the minimum requirements:

  • Have achieved a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher.
  • High Seniors – Have graduated or will graduate from an accredited high school program as a student in good standing.
  • Have an assigned GCSC student ID number (i.e. A0012346)
  • Be planning on enrolling for six (6) or more credit hours at GCSC.

Required Recipient Application Steps

If your recipient is “new” to Gulf Coast State College, they must complete the following steps:

  1. (Admissions) – Your recipient(s) must apply for and be accepted in Gulf Coast State College.
  2. (Orientation) – Your recipient(s) must complete a GCSC orientation program.
  3. (GCSC Email/Lighthouse) – Your recipient(s) must activate their GCSC Lighthouse account and set up their GCSC email.
  4. Once steps 1-3 are completed, your recipient will log in to their Lighthouse account and locate the application link in their “student” or “financial aid” tab.
  5. Log in to the Foundation’s Academic Works system and complete the application steps.

If your recipient is a current student at Gulf Coast State College, they must complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to their Lighthouse account.
  2. Locate the scholarship application link in their “student” or “financial aid” tab.
  3. Log in to the Foundation’s Academic Works system and complete the application steps.
