Starting a Scholarship

WHAT A SCHOLARSHIP MEANS

A scholarship can change the life of an individual and, in doing so, it can change the life of a family. The Foundation is committed to the belief that every deserving student merits a chance to continue his or her education regardless of the cost.

HOW TO CREATE A SCHOLARSHIP

For over forty years, individuals and organizations have use the Foundation’s scholarship endowment program to provide financial support annually to deserving GCSC students.  An endowed scholarship means the principal donation is invested carefully by the Foundation and a portion of the earnings is awarded each year as a scholarship in the name of an individual, family, or organization.

A scholarship can be endowed for $15,000 in one payment or over a period of years. An endowed scholarship is a lasting tribute which will benefit one student each semester in perpetuity. Scholarships of varying amounts (called funds) can also be awarded on an annual basis in the name of an individual, family, or organization. To discuss starting a scholarship endowment or fund through the GCSC Foundation, please call the Foundation at (850) 872-3012.

For additional information on endowments or scholarship funds, please review our Fund and Endowment Giving Guide for Donors. This document provides information and guidelines to help answer your questions about creating a scholarship.
