New and Transfer Students
New and transfer students who have been officially accepted to attend GCSC are eligible to apply for Foundation scholarships.
MINIMUM ELIGIBITY REQUIREMENTS
In order to be eligible for consideration, those applying for Foundation scholarships should:
Have achieved a minimum overall grade point of 2.0 or higher in previous coursework from an educational institution where 12 or more hours of coursework was completed (i.e. high school, technical school, virtual school, home school, general education diploma (GED), other educational institution).
High School Seniors: Have graduated or will graduate from an accredited high school program as a student in good academic standing.
Have an assigned GCSC Student ID number (i.e. A00123456).
Be planning on enrolling for six (6) or more credit hours at GCSC.
REQUIRED APPLICATION STEPS
In order to be considered for Foundation scholarships, the following steps must be taken before April 15th.
STEP 1: (Admissions) You must apply for and be accepted into GCSC. Applications are available online at www.gulfcoast.edu. There will be an application fee. This provision also includes high school seniors who have participated in dual enrolled programs with GCSC.
STEP 2: (Orientation) You must complete a GCSC orientation presentation. You may complete your orientation online or by attending a class in person. Online orientation sessions are available at www.gulfcoast.edu.
STEP 3 (Optional): (Financial Aid) You may apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov after January 1st. The GCSC school code is 001490
STEP 4: Set up access to your GCSC Lighthouse, Angel, and GCSC email accounts. Both may require different usernames and passwords.
STEP 5: (Scholarships) Once steps 1 -4 have been completed, login in your GCSC Lighthouse account, and locate the application link in your “student” tab or “financial aid” tab. Please note: the application link will be available in the financial aid tab if an applicant has applied for financial aid using FAFSA.
STEP 6: Log-in to Academic Works and apply for Foundation scholarships.
* Usernames will be the same as your Angel login or the first part of your GCSC email address (i.e. jsmith for [email protected] ).
* Passwords will follow your Angel or GCSC email password.
DEADLINE FOR APPLYING
Unless otherwise indicated, the Foundation’s scholarship application is available from January 1st through April 15th. Scholarships with automatic consideration do not require an additional application.
High School Honors: The priority deadline for applying for High School Honors Scholarships is April 15th.
General Foundation Scholarships: (Committee Select) The priority deadline for applying for the Foundation’s general endowed scholarships is April 15th. Please note there may be a few select scholarships that have application due dates past April 15th. You will be able to make the determination by reviewing the guidelines for a specific scholarship.
GCSC Retention and Diversity Scholarships: The priority deadline for applying for GCSC Pathfinder or Multi Cultural scholarships is April 15th. For more information, please contact the GCSC Director of Retention and Diversity.
Foundation Departmental Scholarships: (Faculty Select) These scholarships are selected by members of the GCSC faculty or staff. The responsibility for setting priority application deadlines rests with the GCSC department in charge of selecting a recipient or recipients.
Foundation Community or Organizational Scholarships: (Donor Select) These scholarships are selected by members of the community. The responsibility for setting priority application deadlines rests with the individual or group in charge of selecting a recipient or recipients.
